❗️New Israeli massacre in Gaza claims lives of 5 Palestinian police officers
Gaza’s Ministry of Interior and National Security announced on Sunday, 1 November, that five Palestinian police officers were killed in an Israeli strike while carrying out their routine duties in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The ministry identified those killed as Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Zakaria al-Jamal (44), Major Bassam Naimat Miqdad (53), First Sergeant Mohammad Amin al-Nims (37), and police officers Shaher Mohammad Zaarab (28) and Mohammad Ali Abu Shaar (23).
Condemning the massacre, the ministry called on the international community to intervene urgently and pressure Israel to halt its systematic targeting of police personnel performing civilian duties to maintain public safety and security. It added that Israeli attacks have killed 75 police officers since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025.
Separately, Hamas condemned the massacre as a deliberate war crime, alongside a separate Israeli strike on Gaza City that killed three Palestinians, including a father and his child, and wounded several others. The movement said Israel’s repeated targeting of civilian police officers is aimed at obstructing Gaza’s recovery, preventing the restoration of security, spreading chaos, and advancing the forced displacement of Palestinians as part of the ongoing genocide.
Hamas warned that international silence encourages Netanyahu’s government to continue its policies of killing, destruction, and siege, and urged mediators, ceasefire guarantors, and relevant international parties to intervene immediately, compel Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement, ensure civilian protection, and guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid.
