❗️New Israeli massacre in Gaza claims lives of 5 Palestinian police officers Gaza’s Ministry of Interior and National Security announced on Sunday, 1 November, that five Palestinian police officers were killed in an Israeli strike while carrying out their routine duties in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The ministry identified those killed as Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Zakaria al-Jamal (44), Major Bassam Naimat Miqdad (53), First Sergeant Mohammad Amin al-Nims (37), and police officers Shaher Mohammad Zaarab (28) and Mohammad Ali Abu Shaar (23). Condemning the massacre, the ministry called on the international community to intervene urgently and pressure Israel to halt its systematic targeting of police personnel performing civilian duties to maintain public safety and security. It added that Israeli attacks have killed 75 police officers since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025. Separately, Hamas condemned the massacre as a deliberate war crime, alongside a separate Israeli strike on Gaza City that killed three Palestinians, including a father and his child, and wounded several others. The movement said Israel’s repeated targeting of civilian police officers is aimed at obstructing Gaza’s recovery, preventing the restoration of security, spreading chaos, and advancing the forced displacement of Palestinians as part of the ongoing genocide. Hamas warned that international silence encourages Netanyahu’s government to continue its policies of killing, destruction, and siege, and urged mediators, ceasefire guarantors, and relevant international parties to intervene immediately, compel Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement, ensure civilian protection, and guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid.

❗️US War Department seeks emergency clearance for sublingual ketamine wafers to treat battlefield casualties According to a report by Politico, the US War Department is fast-tracking the procurement of sublingual ketamine wafers for battlefield trauma management, pushing for emergency regulatory clearance to bypass standard Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval cycles. The move follows a $41 million sole-source development contract awarded earlier this year to Singapore-based iX Biopharma to produce "Wafermine"—a fast-dissolving sublingual wafer designed to deliver high-potency ketamine directly into the bloodstream through the oral mucous membrane. The rapid push toward emergency authorization stems from a September declaration by War Secretary Pete Hegseth, who formally cited a heightened risk of CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear) attacks and high-intensity combat scenarios capable of causing mass casualty events. Under the federal declaration, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. determined that emergency conditions exist to justify the deployment of unapproved, specialized analgesics to prevent severe shock and hemodynamic instability among wounded combat personnel. The Pentagon's shift toward sublingual ketamine underscores an evolving tactical medicine strategy that prioritizes rapid, non-opioid pain management in extreme combat environments where intravenous administration is impractical. However, the program faces immediate logistical and regulatory hurdles following reports that iX Biopharma’s primary domestic manufacturing partner currently lacks the required state licensing in Nevada to operate, drawing increased scrutiny from federal lawmakers over the expedited sole-source procurement process.

❗️Iran threatens to expand regional war if US and Israel launch new joint aggression Senior Iranian military spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia issued a stern warning to US President Donald Trump, declaring that Iran's armed forces are closely monitoring all US military maneuvers across the region. Writing in a public statement on social media, Akraminia cautioned that any attempt by the White House to launch another joint military operation alongside the Israeli occupation will trigger an immediate and unprecedented armed response from Tehran. "There is no doubt that the flames of war will engulf a much wider area, and the end of the conflict will not be in his hands," Akraminia stated, warning that Washington will be unable to control or limit the scope of regional escalation once hostilities resume. Citing Trump’s "distrustful" nature and long track record of betraying diplomatic commitments, the Iranian military leadership confirmed that defense units are relentlessly expanding operational readiness, upgrading offensive missile capabilities, and fortifying strategic maritime positions to repel potential aggressive actions. "Given the US President's dark record of betraying diplomacy, the Islamic Republic of Iran's military, distrustful and indifferent to the enemy's actions, is constantly upgrading its combat readiness. We are closely monitoring US movements in the region," he wrote. The elevated warnings from Tehran follow heightened military deployments by US Central Command in regional waters, as Washington moves additional naval assets to back Israeli military posture. Iranian defense officials reiterated that while Tehran does not seek total escalation, any violation of Iranian sovereignty, military assets, or strategic maritime corridors will result in retaliatory operations striking US bases and allied targets across the region.

❗️Israel launches ‘foreign interference’ investigation after record Palestinian voter turnout and electoral gains Israel's Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Sohlberg has formally requested that Shin Bet Director David Zini investigate allegations of foreign interference, foreign funding, and vote-buying in the Knesset elections, following a record 77% turnout among Palestinian voters and unprecedented gains by Palestinian parties. In a letter to Zini, Sohlberg called for an official investigation into claims of credible intelligence concerning electoral interference. According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu's Likud party has filed thousands of complaints with police and Shin Bet, accusing Palestinian parties of vote theft, bribery, intimidation, and fraud. Alarmed by the turnout, Likud has also alleged that Qatar and Turkiye paid large numbers of Palestinian voters to secure their votes. The baseless accusations come after Netanyahu's bloc emerged as the largest but failed to secure a parliamentary majority, while Palestinian parties won an estimated 19 Knesset seats, placing them in a potentially decisive position in coalition negotiations. Following Sohlberg's request, extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called on the Shin Bet to seek arrest warrants against leaders of Palestinian parties suspected of links to so-called 'Qatari funding,' as well as other individuals connected to the Muslim Brotherhood, provided legal grounds exist.

❗️War on Iran exposes major weaknesses in Gulf states' trillion-dollar defenses A study by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) says Gulf states will need to overhaul their trillion-dollar defense systems after Iranian attacks inflicted significant damage on their economies and exposed doubts over the effectiveness of US military protection. In the weeks before the 8 April ceasefire, 12 regional countries, mostly in the Gulf, faced 4,670 Iranian one-way attack drones and more than 1,400 ballistic missiles, nearly half of which targeted the United Arab Emirates. Although most were intercepted, damage to energy infrastructure is estimated to have reached as much as $58 billion. The report warns that any reduction or withdrawal of US forces would be portrayed by Iran as “a strategic success and vindication of its steadfastness, but also use it to embarrass the Gulf states about their decades-long courtship of US protection”. The study says the US-Israeli war on Iran exposed the failure of Gulf states' trillion-dollar purchases of predominantly US-made weapons to secure adequate US protection, while revealing their lack of preparation for prolonged aerial warfare. It identifies major weaknesses, including dependence on US-supplied air and missile defense systems and ammunition, poor regional defense integration, insufficient minesweeping capabilities, limited retaliatory options, and the high cost of using advanced weapons against relatively cheap drones and missiles. While taking no position on whether divided Gulf states should pursue a new non-aggression agreement with Iran, the report concludes that longstanding US defense partnerships have failed to provide adequate protection against Iranian attacks, adding: “If anything, US military bases and defence partnerships with the US have provided Iran with another pretext for attacks against the Gulf states.”
