Democrats didn't just win the 2026 midterms — they ripped through Republican strongholds that were supposed to be untouchable. James Talarico defeated Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Gina Hinojosa unseated Gov. Greg Abbott. Both wins came in a state Trump carried by double digits just two years ago. Democrats also flipped Senate seats in South Carolina and Kansas, states Trump won by roughly 18 and 16 points in 2024. The result: Democrats take control of both the Senate and the House, with what could be their largest House majority in nearly two decades. A Fox News poll found Trump's approval at 36%, and 74% of voters rated the economy negatively. His final-weeks campaign blitz to rally Republican voters did nothing to stop the bleeding. Full story
