🎤Vitalik Buterin published his vision for Ethereum through 2030 on Sunday, and his own summary of it was blunt: it's really not just a blockchain anymore. Here's what sits underneath that: 1️⃣ Today every computer in the network re-runs every transaction to check it, which keeps things honest but means adding machines doesn't add capacity. The plan replaces that with short mathematical proofs, so computers verify each other's work instead of repeating it. Hegota, the 2027 upgrade, is described as likely Ethereum's last normal fork, with quantum resistance on the roadmap after it. 2️⃣ The market cooled over the weekend. Bitcoin slipped to $82,900 and altcoins fell 1.75%, with the Altcoin Season Index easing from 61 to 57. ETF inflows continued but the pace dropped sharply, $134 million on Friday against nearly $1 billion the previous Monday. 3️⃣ This week brings the two numbers that matter most before the next Fed meeting. Core PCE lands Wednesday with forecasts pointing to faster inflation, and jobs data follows Friday with hiring expected to slow to 98,000 from 162,000. Hotter inflation and weaker hiring in the same week would be the least comfortable combination for risk assets. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. 🔈 Britain's largest banks completed the world's first interbank transactions using tokenized deposits yesterday, covering two live remortgages and a marketplace payment. Here's what sits underneath that: 1️⃣ A tokenized deposit is ordinary bank money recorded on a blockchain instead of the bank's internal ledger. Same protections, but it settles instantly and can move automatically once conditions are met. Banks have run blockchain pilots for over a decade, but each built its own system. This is the first time they transacted with each other. 2️⃣ That makes four announcements in one week. The ECB launched a settlement system on Monday, Europe's central banks pushed to restrict stablecoin yields on Tuesday, Canada's six largest banks announced a shared network on Wednesday. All pointing the same direction: regulated bank money rather than private stablecoins. 3️⃣ Meanwhile the Altcoin Season Index jumped to 61, up from 51 on Monday and the highest we've tracked. It still needs 75 to count as an actual altcoin season. Bitcoin holds $84,478, on track for a third straight positive month. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. 💬 Crypto's market cap fell roughly 50% over the past year, shedding $2.1 trillion. Actual activity on the networks fell 1.6%. Here's what sits underneath that: ➡️ Chainalysis tracks how much money actually moves through crypto networks. Prices halved, the money kept moving. In the 2023 downturn, a much smaller price decline cut activity by 23%, because back then almost all activity was trading. ➡️ Payments held it up. Cross-border stablecoin transfers rose 77.5%, averaging around $3,000 per payment, far too small to be institutional. The data runs through June 30, so it captures the bottom rather than this month's recovery. ➡️ Trading still dominates though, at $8.9 trillion of the $9.4 trillion measured. Speculation didn't go anywhere. It just stopped being the only thing keeping the networks busy. Bitcoin pulled back to $84,500 ahead of tomorrow's options expiry, which settles roughly $15.6 billion. Last Wednesday, Glassnode reported that new demand was missing across every channel it tracks, including ETF flows. Four sessions later, Bitcoin ETFs had absorbed over $2.3 billion. 👀 Watching: "So the analysts were wrong. Why follow any of this?" 🧠 Thinking: "They weren't wrong about the data. They described a market that stopped existing four days later." The difference isn't experience. It's knowing that research is a photograph, not a forecast. 💬 What's the fastest you've seen a solid thesis go stale? 📈 App | 📷 Insta | ✖ X

✉️ Bitcoin ETFs took in another $715 million yesterday, a fourth straight day of heavy buying that pushed total assets past $110 billion. Bitcoin itself barely moved, sitting flat at around $86,000. Here's what sits underneath that: 1️⃣ That gap between flows and price is the thing to watch. Over $2.3 billion has come in across four sessions, yet Bitcoin is trading where it was on Monday after touching $87,000 overnight. Inflows alone aren't moving it right now. 2️⃣ Canada's six largest banks are building a shared system for tokenized deposits, meaning customer money held at a bank but issued as a token that moves on a blockchain. This follows the European Central Bank doing something similar on Monday. Banks are converging on the same idea independently, which says more about direction than any single announcement. 3️⃣ Altcoins keep improving relative to Bitcoin. The Altcoin Season Index has climbed from 45 to 53 over the past week, and 24 of 25 tracked sectors finished higher. It still needs 75 to count as an actual altcoin season, but the direction has been consistent for two weeks. Four days of billion-dollar buying and Bitcoin is flat. That tells you more than the inflow number does. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. Trading digital assets involves significant risk, including the potential loss of capital. Please conduct your own research. Terms and conditions apply. 📈 App | 📷 Insta | ✖ X

Bitcoin ETFs took in nearly $1 billion on Monday, the largest single day in eleven months. Bitcoin is around $86,000 after touching $87,000 overnight, and the total crypto market is back above $3 trillion. Here's what sits underneath that: 1️⃣ The buying is broad rather than concentrated. Ether ETFs added $270 million the same day, Strategy resumed purchases with 950 Bitcoin, and 22 of 24 tracked sectors finished the week higher. 2️⃣ The European Central Bank switched on a system letting banks pay for tokenized bonds with money held at the central bank itself, instead of stablecoins. Thirteen institutions are connected, including Deutsche Bank and Santander. The ECB also plans to buy tokenized bonds with its own money. 3️⃣ Some traders are not convinced this holds. One scenario doing the rounds has Bitcoin trading sideways through October, dropping below $70,000 later in the year, and only then starting a proper bull run. Worth keeping in mind while sentiment runs this hot. Eleven months since ETFs last saw a day this big. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. 💬 Bitcoin is around $84,000, up about 8% on the week and near its highest level since May. ETFs took in $433 million on Friday, pushing assets back above $100 billion. Here's what sits underneath that: 1️⃣ Glassnode published data on how August's rally actually happened, and it's worth knowing before assuming this one is different. Over five days, Bitcoin rose 24.6% while active leverage fell 12.6%. Short positions accounted for 89% of everything liquidated. Rallies built on conviction add open positions. This one shed them, which is the signature of forced buying rather than new demand. 2️⃣ The CFTC sent its own crypto rulebook to the White House for review, a week after the CLARITY Act stalled. Together with the SEC's tokenized stock exemption last Thursday, both agencies are now writing rules Congress failed to pass. Neither has the reach of legislation, but neither is waiting for it either. 3️⃣ Almost every corner of the market participated. Twenty three of twenty four tracked sectors finished the week higher, with data availability up 65% and AI up 38%. The Altcoin Season Index climbed to 51, its highest in over a month. A quiet macro week ahead, with Xi Jinping visiting the US on Thursday as the main event. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. 📌 Two days after the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate, the SEC did part of the job itself. It cleared a path for tokenized US stocks to trade onchain. Here's what that means: 1️⃣ Until now, any venue matching buyers and sellers of tokenized stocks risked being treated as a full exchange, which takes years to register. The SEC waived that for five years, with conditions attached. 2️⃣ Three major central banks raised rates in seven days. The ECB last week, the Fed on Wednesday, and the Bank of Japan this morning to 1.25%, its highest since 1995. Cheap money from central banks is off the table for now, which means risk assets need other reasons to rise. 3️⃣ Altcoins are moving anyway. Uniswap gained about 27%, ONEchain 29% and Arbitrum 24% over the past day. DEXs and rollups were the two strongest sectors this week, so the move has some structure behind it rather than being scattered. The Altcoin Season Index climbed to 45 from 37, its highest in weeks. Congress couldn't pass the bill. The regulator wrote part of it anyway. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. 🖥 The Fed raised rates a quarter point yesterday, its first hike since 2023, and signalled it isn't finished. Bitcoin recovered above $76,000 anyway. Here's what happened: 1️⃣ The hike itself was expected. What surprised people was the forecast that came with it. Four times a year each Fed official submits where they think rates should go, and this time 16 of 18 said at least one more increase is coming before year end. Back in June, eight of them expected none at all. That flip is the actual news, because it turns a single hike into the start of a cycle. 2️⃣ One morning after the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate, two other crypto bills passed their first hurdle in the House. One would lock up the Bitcoin the US government has seized from criminals for 20 years, meaning it can't be sold. The other creates the first clear federal tax rules for crypto. Neither is law yet, both still need full votes in the House and Senate. 3️⃣ ETFs haven't turned yet. Bitcoin funds lost $296 million on Wednesday and Ether funds $224 million, a second straight day of heavy outflows despite the price recovery. A hawkish Fed and a failed bill in the same week, and Bitcoin is higher than it was on Tuesday. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. 💬 The CLARITY Act failed in the Senate yesterday, 49 votes to 50, well short of the 60 needed. Bitcoin dropped below $76,000. Here's where that leaves things: 1️⃣ The bill didn't fail over its actual content. The framework splitting oversight between the SEC and the CFTC, which is what the industry wanted, was never the sticking point. It collapsed over ethics language covering crypto holdings of elected officials. Senator Lummis, who wrote the bill, said afterward that it's over for this Congress. 2️⃣ Markets had mostly priced it in. Prediction market odds had been falling in the hours before the vote. Bitcoin ETFs saw $450 million leave on Monday, with Ether ETFs losing another $141 million. Most of the positioning happened before the result. 3️⃣ Regulation continues without it. The SEC's own crypto framework is open for public comment until October 20, and its chairman said the agency will move forward with or without legislation. Nothing changes for holders today. The Fed decides this evening, with a hike widely expected. The decision itself is priced in. What Warsh says about the path ahead is not. 🗳 The Senate votes today at 2:15 p.m. ET on whether the CLARITY Act moves forward, and the odds doubled over the weekend. Here's what changed: 1️⃣A new version of the bill was released with tougher ethics rules, and Trump accepted most of what Democrats had asked for. Ethics had been one of the central obstacles holding the bill up all summer. 2️⃣ Prediction markets repriced sharply. Kalshi's odds of passage moved from 18% to 44%, while Polymarket's odds of the bill being signed into law this year went from 14% to 30%. Galaxy's head of research raised his own estimate from 10% to 25%. 3️⃣ The CLARITY Act would finally define which US regulator oversees what in crypto, splitting it between the SEC and the CFTC. Right now that question gets settled case by case in court. Today's vote only opens debate, so passage would still take several more steps before the end of the year. Bitcoin touched $79,000 overnight and fell back to $77,000. The Fed decides tomorrow. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. Two of the biggest events on the crypto calendar land tomorrow and Wednesday. Here's the setup: 1️⃣ The Senate votes tomorrow on whether to advance the CLARITY Act to the floor. It needs 60 votes, and Republicans hold 53 seats, so it depends on Democrats crossing over. If the vote fails, the bill is effectively finished for 2026 and regulatory uncertainty carries into next year. 2️⃣ The Fed decides Wednesday, and markets now price an 85% to 90% chance of a rate hike. At the July meeting the committee voted 9 to 3 to hold, with three members already pushing for higher rates. The bigger question is whether Warsh frames a hike as a one-off or the start of a tightening cycle. 3️⃣ Ether ETFs took in $216 million on Friday while Bitcoin ETFs saw a fourth straight day of outflows, though a small one at $13 million. That split has been building all week. Bitcoin has been rejected at $82,000 three times in two weeks and now sits at $77,600. A hike is priced in. How Warsh describes it is not. ✉️ Bitcoin is down a fourth straight day at $77,347, with US inflation data landing at 3:30 p.m. CET. Forecasts point to 3.4%, unchanged from last month. Three things behind that: 1️⃣ ETFs pulled out $283 million yesterday, the third consecutive outflow and larger than the previous two combined. Ether funds lost $30 million. Traders have also been scaling back bullish options positions ahead of the print, so positioning looks defensive rather than panicked. 2️⃣ Senate Republicans released revised Clarity Act text ahead of the September 15 vote, with changes to DeFi and credit union provisions. That vote is four days away and would give the US its first real federal framework for crypto regulation, after more than a year of the bill stalling. 3️⃣ Researchers working with AI agents cut the estimated cost of a future quantum attack on Bitcoin and Ethereum by more than half in eight weeks, beating a Google benchmark from March. No machine exists that could run it today. The catch is that roughly a third of all Bitcoin sits in addresses where the key is already publicly visible, and moving those coins to safer addresses is something that has to happen before the technology arrives. 🖥 Bitcoin is up roughly 22% since mid-August, and the companies that mine it have almost entirely missed the move. Three things behind that: 1️⃣ Of eleven mining and mining-adjacent companies tracked by The Block, only one beat Bitcoin over that stretch, and it builds hardware rather than mines. The rest returned a median of 1.8%. Exchanges and stablecoin companies, meanwhile, kept pace with Bitcoin exactly. 2️⃣ The reason is how they funded their pivot. Miners sold between 28,000 and 32,000 Bitcoin in the first half of the year and committed over $70 billion to AI data centers. For three of the largest, computing is now expected to generate around 70% of revenue this year. The bet may still work, but they paid for it by selling the asset that then rallied. 3️⃣ Bitcoin itself slipped below $78,000, a third straight daily decline after failing at $80,000. ETFs saw $120 million leave yesterday, a second consecutive outflow, while ether funds took in $35 million. Miner stocks used to move harder than Bitcoin in both directions. That amplification just didn't show up. Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. Trading digital assets involves significant risk, including the potential loss of capital. More than 71% of all Bitcoin supply is now in profit, closing in on the 74.7% level that has historically preceded bear-to-bull transitions. 👀 Watching: "That's the signal. Every bull market started here." 🧠 Thinking: "The same number means 71% of holders can sell without taking a loss. Bitcoin has been rejected twice at $82,000 this month. Which force shows up first?" The difference isn't experience. It's remembering that every bullish metric has a seller on the other side of it. 💬 Which reading are you going with? 📈 App | 📷 Insta | ✖ X

🟢 Bitcoin recovered to $79,640 overnight after dipping to $77,600 yesterday. Oil is nearing $100 amid escalating strikes in the Gulf, which normally pressures risk assets, yet crypto held up. What's underneath: 1️⃣ More than 71% of all Bitcoin is now sitting in profit. The historical average is 74.7%, and crossing it has usually marked the shift from bear to bull. But there's a catch they point out themselves: more coins in profit also means more people who can sell. That may explain why the push toward $82,000 keeps stalling. Glassnode adds that volatility right now is driven less by leverage or market size and more by who actually holds the coins. 2️⃣ Strategy's return to bitcoin buying lasted exactly one week. Instead of adding more, the company spent $176 million buying back its own preferred shares. Bitmine went the other way, adding 28,086 ETH and moving within reach of 5% of the entire ether supply. 3️⃣ Both Bitcoin and Ether ETFs saw small outflows on Tuesday, around $47 million and $24 million. The thing to watch is whether inflows hold through this week's Treasury buyback and Friday's inflation print. 71% in profit reads bullish until you remember every one of them can sell. Which side of that are you on? Nothing in this material constitutes investment or financial advice. Trading digital assets involves significant risk, including the potential loss of capital. ✉️ The Liquid Network attackers returned 3,400 of the 4,000 bitcoin they took on Sunday, about 85% of it, after Blockstream patched the bug they exploited. They kept roughly $47 million and haven't explained why. The network is still offline. What else is on the radar: 1️⃣A security firm called Hacken found that about half of all USDT in circulation, roughly $91 billion on the Tron network, sits behind a contract needing only two of three keys. There's no timelock and no way to reverse an unauthorized change. Hacken found no evidence of any breach. 2️⃣ The timing is awkward. The same review upgraded Tether's rating from D to C after KPMG confirmed reserves exceed liabilities by $6.8 billion. Its cybersecurity score was 3.3 out of 10. Financially solid, structurally exposed. 3️⃣ Bitcoin slipped to $78,300 as Fed hike odds climbed back to 59%, with the meeting eight days out. Friday's inflation print is the last real data before the decision. Half of USDT sits behind two keys. Does that change how you think about stablecoin risk?
