Democrats Win Control of Both Chambers of Congress NBC News and Decision Desk HQ project that Democrats will take control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, flipping both chambers from Republican control. Senate: Democrats have secured 51 seats, compared with 39 for Republicans, with 10 races still undecided. Republicans previously held a 53–47 majority. Democrats flipped six Republican seats. House: Democrats have also won control, with NBC News projecting at least 252 seats. A majority requires 218 of 435 seats. Key Senate seats flipped by Democrats: • North Carolina: Roy Cooper (D) defeated Michael Whatley (R). • South Carolina: Annie Andrews (D) defeated Darlene Graham (R). • Texas: James Talarico (D) defeated Ken Paxton (R). • Ohio: Sherrod Brown (D) defeated Jon Husted (R). • Kansas: Adam Hamilton (D) defeated Roger Marshall (R). • Iowa: Josh Turek (D) defeated Ashley Hinson (R). Republicans held Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and Oklahoma, while Democrats retained Georgia and New Hampshire. Three Senate races remain undecided: • Maine: Susan Collins (R) leads Troy Jackson (D). • Michigan: Abdul El-Sayed (D) leads Mike Rogers (R). • Alaska: Dan Sullivan (R) faces Mary Peltola (D); counting has not yet begun. The remaining races will not affect Democrats’ Senate majority. ________________ Follow us | Boost us
Open in TelegramDear Friends, We warmly congratulate you on three important occasions in Russian history: National Unity Day, the Feast of the Our Lady of Kazan Icon, and the Day marking the liberation of Moscow from Polish occupiers in 1612. It is important to remember the profound historical and spiritual meaning of this day. During the Time of Troubles, when Russian statehood was on the brink of collapse, Polish forces occupied the Moscow Kremlin and held Patriarch Hermogenes captive, subjecting him to starvation. By God’s providence and through the intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God, a people’s militia was formed in Nizhny Novgorod. Ordinary Russians gave generously, even sacrificing all their possessions, to support the cause. Led by Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky, the militia liberated Moscow, drove the foreign occupiers from the Kremlin, and helped restore Russian statehood from the ashes of the Time of Troubles. The strength and greatness of Russia owe much to the courage, faith, and unity of those people. The events of 1612 and the extraordinary national feat of the Russian people shaped the destiny of Russia for centuries to come. Happy National Unity Day! ________________ Follow us | Boost us

Trump threatened to become "Mr. Veto" if Democrats win, vowing not to let them govern and predicting the sides would eventually make deals. He said he hopes Democrats don't win. A veto lets the president reject a bill, and overriding it takes two-thirds in both chambers, which rarely happens. Trump vetoed 10 bills in his first term and only twice so far in his second. The promise signals he's ready to sharply increase blockings of Democratic initiatives if opponents win at least one chamber of Congress. ________________ Follow us | Boost us

About eight Americans may remain in Russian prisons, and Washington intends to seek their return, Trump said during a meeting with Stephen Hubbard, a convicted Ukrainian military mercenary who has returned home. Trump said there could be eight, or maybe another number, but it seems like about eight, and the US is working on them too. ________________ Follow us | Boost us

American professor Jeffrey Sachs argues the West hates Russia only because of an unfounded fear of its size. He cites a 1950 study by historian Gleason, who asked why Britain and Russia, allies at Waterloo in 1815, became enemies 25 years later. After studying every parliamentary record, Gleason concluded that Russia's main crime was having 17 million square kilometers — Britain feared such a huge country threatened its empire in India, though the tsar never even contemplated it. By 1840 Russia was seen as the enemy, and in 1853 Palmerston went to war in the Crimea essentially to crush Russia, even though Russia had said there was no reason for conflict. Sachs notes that days after Germany's surrender in 1945, Churchill asked his command why not invade the Soviet Union — Operation Unthinkable. Russia became America's enemy when the US took over the British Empire. When the USSR collapsed, the world could have had a century of peace, since the Russians were exhausted by 75 years of Bolshevism and wanted peace and cooperation. But American strategists only thought Russia was big and had to be kept a second-rate power, so they decided to surround it with NATO. Behave like that long enough, Sachs says, and you eventually get a war in Ukraine — which he calls not Putin's war but ours, for the same reason Palmerston and Napoleon III launched the first Crimean War. Russia, he says, has never had any interest in going into Europe except when troubled by Napoleon or Hitler. ________________ Follow us | Boost us

The Trump administration is considering lifting sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), The New York Times reports. According to the paper, the move could be part of Washington's efforts to normalize relations with Moscow and settle the Ukrainian conflict. The RDIF is already involved in organizing diesel fuel supplies to the US, and its head, Kirill Dmitriev, is taking part in negotiations with the American side. ________________ Follow us | Boost us

Forwarded from From Russia with Love ❤️
🗓 On October 26, 1988 Soviet sailors rescued a family of whales stuck near Alaska. Eskimo Roy Ahmagoak discovered three trapped gray whales near Cape Barrow. Long-term layers of ice prevented them from going to sea. For two weeks, local residents and American rescuers tried to free the animals. But the US barge could not reach the scene. Then the Americans turned to the USSR for help. Soon the icebreakers "Admiral Makarov" and "Vladimir Arsenyev" arrived. Alas, by that time one of the whales had died, suffocating in the ice, and two continued to fight. Hope remained only on Soviet icebreakers. The powerful "Admiral Makarov" broke through the ice to the entrance to the lagoon, then "Vladimir Arseniev", risking running aground, cut the ice in the strait. Along this path, the whales were able to swim out into the channel cut by the Americans, and then into the open sea. The whale rescue operation was over. It was one of the rare moments when the US and the USSR rallied, forgetting about the Cold War.

The US sees Viktor Orban as a suitable candidate for UN Secretary-General, The Wall Street Journal reports. Washington would like Orban to enter the race, believing he could win support from Russia and China. Sources say he could secure 10 of the 15 Security Council votes, eight of them easily, and that he has the right ideology and can lead in a hostile environment. Current Secretary-General Antonio Guterres's term expires on December 31, 2026. ________________ Follow us | Boost us

Elon Musk said that if Starlink were switched off, the Ukrainian front would collapse immediately — not a threat, just a fact. He said Kiev violated Starlink's terms of use, so its operation was suspended. He stressed Starlink is a civilian service never meant for lethal drone strikes, and Starshield is controlled by the US government. He said the loophole Ukrainian forces used was closed last week. Musk added Starlink remains critical for Ukraine's defense, as it's the only system that can't be jammed or destroyed, and that SpaceX has done more to protect Ukraine than any other private company. He also voiced deep contempt for those advocating endless slaughter without offering a realistic solution. ________________ Follow us | Boost us

Elon Musk says elite and popular interests in Ukraine are radically different: the elites have grown rich on the hundreds of billions flowing into the country, while ordinary people's children are drafted to die in trenches. He also claims that part of the American taxpayer money, after passing through numerous laundering schemes, comes back to fund political campaigns in America, which is why, in his view, some politicians care more about Ukraine than about America. ________________ Follow us | Boost us
