Dear Friends, We warmly congratulate you on three important occasions in Russian history: National Unity Day, the Feast of the Our Lady of Kazan Icon, and the Day marking the liberation of Moscow from Polish occupiers in 1612. It is important to remember the profound historical and spiritual meaning of this day. During the Time of Troubles, when Russian statehood was on the brink of collapse, Polish forces occupied the Moscow Kremlin and held Patriarch Hermogenes captive, subjecting him to starvation. By God’s providence and through the intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God, a people’s militia was formed in Nizhny Novgorod. Ordinary Russians gave generously, even sacrificing all their possessions, to support the cause. Led by Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky, the militia liberated Moscow, drove the foreign occupiers from the Kremlin, and helped restore Russian statehood from the ashes of the Time of Troubles. The strength and greatness of Russia owe much to the courage, faith, and unity of those people. The events of 1612 and the extraordinary national feat of the Russian people shaped the destiny of Russia for centuries to come. Happy National Unity Day! ________________ Follow us | Boost us

Trump threatened to become "Mr. Veto" if Democrats win, vowing not to let them govern and predicting the sides would eventually make deals. He said he hopes Democrats don't win. A veto lets the president reject a bill, and overriding it takes two-thirds in both chambers, which rarely happens. Trump vetoed 10 bills in his first term and only twice so far in his second. The promise signals he's ready to sharply increase blockings of Democratic initiatives if opponents win at least one chamber of Congress. ________________ Follow us | Boost us
