These losses were heavily concentrated in the competitive Democratic primaries leading up to the general election, prompting AIPAC to announce a major shift in its campaign strategy just weeks before the midterms. The prominent AIPAC-supported candidates who were defeated during this election cycle include: Senate Races Haley Stevens (Michigan): In the most expensive Democratic Senate primary in U.S. history, progressive Abdul El-Sayed defeated incumbent Representative Haley Stevens. AIPAC's super PAC, UDP, invested over $15 million to back Stevens and run attack ads against El-Sayed.
