One of the best Q3s in history 💰 September—and with it, the quarter—closed last night. For the quarter, BTC is up 42%—the second-best Q3 in history. ETH had a record-breaking Q3 overall, up 70%. The chart looks pretty good so far: we’re holding support, but we’ve been testing it more and more often. Plus, ETF momentum is weakening—inflows are gradually declining, and yesterday saw outflows for the first time in a long while. Yes, historically, October has been a good month for crypto—it’s not called “Uptober” for nothing. But it’s also one of the most volatile months. Last year, for example, we managed to hit a new all-time high (ATH) and experience a flash crash. So we need to be prepared for volatility, but in terms of market activity and trading setups, this month should be no worse than September.

Who are these whales that have been buying up BTC since August? Take, for example, a group like Strive—we suspect very few people have even heard of them. Yet from August 24 to September 25, they bought $500 million worth of BTC—nearly as much as Strategy did during the same period. For those who didn’t know: Strive currently ranks 5th among public companies in terms of BTC holdings—behind Strategy, Twenty One, Metaplanet, and MARA.

HYPE at $100 soon? 👀 Today, Hyperliquid Labs unstaked $320 million worth of HYPE. We’ve already written about these unlockings this month, and, according to the team, the tokens will be sold over-the-counter (OTC) to an institutional investor. To put this in perspective: since the launch of the HYPE ETF, $349 million worth of HYPE has been accumulated through it. And here we have $320 million in a single transaction. In other words, even at current prices (albeit at a discount), a major player is willing to accumulate hundreds of millions in HYPE.

👊 Uptober starts in 3 days. Since 2016, 8 out of 10 Octobers have closed in the black—historically the strongest month for BTC. 🤌 As a bonus, October 1 marks the start of a season featuring the three strongest consecutive quarters on the stock market within a four-year presidential cycle. BTC being below $83k is certainly nerve-wracking, but after the initial dip to $82k on September 3, the market then corrected down to $75k, and then the shorts were wiped out again, sending the price soaring to $87k.

The barrier to entry into crypto continues to fall Yesterday, Aave unveiled a new feature in the Aave App: connect your bank account → deposit fiat → it’s automatically converted into stablecoins at a 1:1 ratio. This skips the need for separate exchanges, currency converters, and extra steps. It’s currently in beta, but a full launch is promised soon. Robinhood and Telegram have already taken a similar path, and Twitter is gradually moving toward allowing users to buy crypto directly from its website. In each cycle, new ways to lower the barrier to entry have emerged: —2017 — Coinbase and the first user-friendly fiat on-ramps + the launch of BTC futures. —2021 — PayPal, Venmo, mobile on-ramps, Bitcoin ETFs, and crypto within familiar financial apps. —The new cycle is already here: bank → stablecoin in just a couple of clicks. In other words, the lines are blurring to such an extent that buying crypto is becoming almost as easy as ordering delivery or buying something at a store: open the app → select → pay → receive. And this is exactly the kind of user experience crypto needs for further mass adoption. The less people have to understand about exchanges, wallets, networks, and on-ramps—the easier it is for them to simply start using crypto.

The bull market continues 😎 Things are looking good in the market so far. BTC found support around 83–84k from the big players, and liquidity is flowing into altcoins. Ondo, for example, is already up nearly 40% since yesterday and has pulled the rest of the RWA sector along with it. There’s a slight dip in on-chain activity, but there are still plenty of setups out there. The fly in the ointment is the ~$350 million hack of Bitget. The situation seems to be under control: cold wallets are intact, the loss will be covered by the protection fund, and they promise to restore withdrawals. But this is yet another reminder: CEXs are still vulnerable. You can’t put all your eggs in one basket—diversification and self-custody are essential. Plus, keep in mind that Tier-1 exchanges have recently seen a lot of asset freezes due to regulation, so you should only keep on the exchange’s balance what you’re currently trading—as we’ve always advised. And for this, you can use WEEX: high leverage allows you to keep less liquidity on the exchange, and your funds aren’t subject to regulatory restrictions.
