It makes sense that handing over total domination of the seas and Europe to the British would be bad for Russia. But Alexander has stopped thinking in those terms. He fully believes that he is on a mission from God to defeat Napoleon... Listen to the full episode over on Substack.

Fire Point says they're closing down the "Flamingo" missile project because it's pointless, and it was never meant to be effective; "it was more important as a political statement than as a miracle weapon". My understanding is that it was all a huge grift from the beginning and they just used up some old Soviet engines they found lying around and put them in worthless junk missiles all of which were easily shot down by Russian air defenses and now they've run out of old Soviet engines to put into junk missiles but have already embezzled tens of millions of dollars so the main objective has been achieved and it doesn't matter anymore.

Russian human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova and her Ukrainian counterpart, Dmitriy Lubinets, meet in Belarus to reunite six Russian families. A Ukrainian official behaving like a normal human being deserves some respect, unironically, even if it’s just the bare minimum. Ukrainian sports associations at international competitions can’t even manage that. Hopefully, he stays in his position, and alive.

GRU made Lindsey Graham gay. An expert in the field confirms it.

Visited my local МФЦ office and was genuinely shocked: 0 (ZERO) migrants in the queue. Never seen that before. There were times when Central Asians made up almost the entire queue of people applying for documents. Looks like the latest migrant restrictions are working.

Funniest footage I've seen in a while.

We return at last to our historical series on the Romanovs, as the curtain rises on the year of our Lord 1801. One last Palace Coup brought him to power: a liberal reformer, a wartime leader, a mystic. Emperor Alexander I was “a man of many turns”, and we took a look at what made him tick — from his childhood and education, to the brilliant geopolitical duel with Napoleon, to his spiritual wanderings. ...which is precisely why what Putin referred to as "demilitarization" (either the outright destruction of rump Ukrainian military potential or the creation of a geostrategic starting point for any future conflict that will be favorable to Russia, e.g. landlocked Banderastan with Russian rocket artillery pointed at every major city) and "denazification" (the exclusion of people like Kostenko from political power in the Ukrainian rump state) is an absolute necessity, and should not be subject to negotiation.

2022 already feels incredibly archaic, but there's a distinctly retrofuturist flair to it. It had it all: Cyberpunk-looking anti-drone guns that fry your balls off. Mavic drones doing recon and dropping grenades, but no FPVs to speak of. 30-km-long armored columns still seen as feasible, briefly. The "Ghost of Kiev". One last great old-school airborne assault. Soldiers swiping and matching with local women on Tinder. Shit comms. Zelensky appearing as a 3D hologram at EU summits. Everything livestreamed with no bans on anything yet. Civilians crowdsourcing targeting and leaking geolocations. AKs handed out on the street. People going to work like nothing happened, some duct-taped to street poles. Every new piece of equipment being a "game changer". Saint Javelin cult. Casualties still relatively low. But the most exhilarating and dreadful feeling was that history hadn't ended. It is, in fact, happening and nobody knows what to do with it.

Embellished on the harlots part, but clearly based on Nikolai Demidov, fabulously rich aristocrat, industrialist and patron of the arts. Armed and funded an entire infantry regiment with his own money when Napoleon invaded and led it into battle at Borodino. There's a Piazza Demidoff in Florence named after him for financing an orphanage and a school there. Built museums, galleries and hospitals all over. Brought Bordeaux grapes to Crimea. A Patriot and a Hero. His son married Napoleon's niece.

I wouldn't overstate the Polish-Ukrainian conflict. A Jewish KVN kid from Krivoy Rog overplays his hand LARPing as a UPA/OUN superfan. The Poles get pissed and cut some of their military aid. So what? Poland isn't sovereign enough to do much about it and would play its part even if the Volhynia Massacres were happening monthly. He's rubbing their noses in how little separates their performative outrage from his performative Banderism.

It sucks to be in IT right now. Some are already out, most have their salaries frozen and are just waiting for the axe to fall. But fret not: once AI takes your job, you're going straight to WWIII.
