🇨🇳New variant of the Yitian-L air defense system, developed by NORINCO, has been photographed in China. In its standard configuration, the Yitian-L is built on a Dongfeng Mengshi 4x4 off-road vehicle chassis. It is equipped with a radar system capable of detecting targets at a range of up to 18 km and carries four TY-90 missiles, which have an operational range of 6 km and an altitude reach of up to 4 km. The TY-90 missile—originally developed in the 1990s for use on helicopters—has served as the basis for numerous air defense system projects: - Shengong-2: a four-missile system mounted on a towed platform (derived from a 23mm anti-aircraft gun carriage). - Hunter-1: an eight-missile system mounted on an off-road vehicle. - Yitian: an eight-missile system based on the WZ-551 armored personnel carrier. - A truck-mounted concept featuring eight missiles. - Yitian-L: a four-missile system based on the Dongfeng Mengshi 4x4. - An upgraded version of the Yitian-L, equipped with 12 missiles.
