Guangzhou: The Final Stop on MGIMO’s China Tour! 🇷🇺🇨🇳 On 30-31 October, the MGIMO delegation wrapped up its visit to China in one of the country’s most dynamic and futuristic cities — Guangzhou. ⚡️The final day brought together several key events: the International School Olympiad, a presentation of MGIMO for prospective students, a lecture for university students and a meeting with potential academic partners. ✒️ Over 50 students from the Experimental School of Foreign Languages in Guangzhou took part in the MGIMO International School Olympiad. Anna Chernova, Third Secretary of the Consulate General of Russia in Guangzhou, welcomed the participants, shared some useful advice and wished them every success in the competition. ➡️Over 120 Chinese school students took part, testing their knowledge of English and international relations and competing for the opportunity to study at MGIMO tuition-free. 📚 The programme continued with MGIMO Day, giving schoolchildren a closer look at university life and the opportunities available to them in Russia. The programme featured: ✔Elizaveta Rudenko, Head of MGIMO’s International Marketing, who introduced the students to the university and its academic programmes; ✔Arina Khabieva, a third-year student at the School of International Economic Relations, who hosted an interactive quiz on Russian-Chinese relations in Chinese; ✔Boris Brednikov, a third-year student at the Institute of International Trade and Sustainable Development, who delivered a lecture on the Russian-Chinese partnership in today’s world. The same day, the MGIMO delegation visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. ➖During a meeting with university representatives, the parties discussed prospects for academic cooperation. ➖Maria Utkina, Deputy Dean for Master’s Programmes at the School of Governance and Politics, also delivered a lecture to students entitled "The Role of Russia and China in Building a Multipolar World." This brought MGIMO’s China tour to a close. The visit formed part of the university’s broader efforts to strengthen Russian-Chinese educational cooperation during the Cross Years of Education between Russia and China. The tour covered six cities and Olympiad events, four MGIMO Days, and visits to four schools and three universities. Over 1,000 schoolchildren, students, academics and other guests took part in the events! Every meeting brought new connections, every lecture sparked interest in Russia, and every conversation opened up opportunities for future cooperation. Most importantly, hundreds of young people now know MGIMO a little better — and some may one day become part of our university community ❤️ MGIMO would like to thank the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou, the leadership and staff of the Experimental School of Foreign Languages in Guangzhou and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies for their assistance in organising the events and for their warm welcome. We also extend our gratitude to Russian Railways (RZD) for supporting the University’s international educational initiatives. Thank you, China! 🐼 🌐 MGIMO International (ENG) | МГИМО для иностранцев (RUS)

🇷🇺🌍 Russia–Africa Youth Forum at MGIMO On October 28–29, MGIMO hosted the Russia–Africa Youth Forum on the sidelines of the Third Russia–Africa Summit. The forum brought together senior officials, diplomats, experts and young people from Russia and across Africa to discuss the future of cooperation in education, the economy, politics and culture. Plenary Session The opening ceremony featured Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO; Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros; Justin Nsengiyumva, Prime Minister of Rwanda; Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah, First Gentleman of Namibia; Leonid Slutsky, head of the LDPR group in the State Duma; Maria Voropaeva, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and Konstantin Kolpakov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo. 🔵Anatoly Torkunov read out a welcome address from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, which placed special emphasis on the younger generation: “Young people in our countries will soon take up the baton and carry the Russia–Africa strategic partnership forward.” In his own remarks, the Rector spoke about MGIMO’s growing educational ties with the continent. The university is now home to more than 80 students from 25 African countries, whereas a few decades ago there were only two. 🔵Justin Nsengiyumva highlighted MGIMO’s contribution to training diplomats for Russia and other countries, including African nations. He noted that a university education helps build lasting professional and personal connections that complement relations between states. 🔵Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah recalled studying in the Soviet Union in 1977 and proposed closer cooperation between Russian and Namibian universities. As one promising avenue, he suggested that students in Moscow and Windhoek work together on practical challenges in water supply, energy, healthcare and agriculture. 🔵Leonid Slutsky focused on the responsibility the younger generation will bear for the development of their countries, stressing that the forum’s participants will go on to hold leading positions in politics, public administration and business. ⭐ During the forum, Azali Assoumani received an honorary doctorate from MGIMO, conferred by the university’s Academic Council in recognition of his efforts to strengthen dialogue between Russia and African countries. 👥 The key outcome of the forum was the establishment of the Russian-African Youth Union, which will become part of the secretariat of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Eighteen organizations from the Gambia, Mali, Mozambique, South Sudan, Rwanda and other countries have confirmed their membership, and the union remains open to new members. 📎 Beyond the plenary session, the forum’s program spanned several interconnected tracks: economy and entrepreneurship, expert dialogue, politics and security, education and people-to-people ties, and cultural exchange. 💙 Special attention was given to the everyday experience of African students at Russian universities. In an open-mic session, participants discussed adapting to the academic and cultural environment, opportunities to realize their potential, and building friendships with their Russian peers. 🌐 MGIMO International (ENG) | МГИМО для иностранцев (RUS)

“MGIMO Day” in Dalian 🇷🇺🇨🇳 The MGIMO team continues its work in China: on October 28, the delegation visited Dalian, where it held talks with the leadership of Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL), met with students, and introduced Chinese schoolchildren to the educational opportunities MGIMO offers. 🤝 One of the key events of the visit was a meeting between representatives of MGIMO and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Shenyang and DUFL Vice President Li Chunmei and the Head of the Russian Language Center. In 2027, MGIMO and DUFL will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their cooperation. The partnership is built on active academic collaboration. Currently, seven DUFL students and two faculty members are studying at MGIMO on exchange programmes, while seven MGIMO students are undertaking language training in Dalian. 📩 During the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and discussed expanding academic exchanges, organizing joint student competitions and olympiads, and developing research collaboration. 🩶🩶 As part of the visit, Maria Utkina, Deputy Dean for Master’s Programmes at the School of Governance and Politics, delivered a lecture to DUFL students entitled “The Role of Russia and China in Building a Multipolar World”. The lecture sparked keen interest, with students actively asking questions, including in Russian. 📍 The MGIMO delegation also visited Huaxia Sun Valley School, where it gave a presentation about the University and the MGIMO International School Olympiad. The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce schoolchildren to the prospects that studying at MGIMO can offer international students. We thank Dalian University of Foreign Languages and Huaxia Sun Valley School for their warm welcome, and the Consulate General of Russia in Shenyang for its assistance in organizing the events! MGIMO continues to open its doors to the next generation of international applicants! 🐼 🌐 MGIMO International (ENG) | МГИМО для иностранцев (RUS)
