Begins above ▪️The European states continue to translate military preparations from political declarations into practical ones. On October 26, the defense ministers of Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Poland confirmed their commitment to increasing combat readiness, expanding military-industrial cooperation and standardizing weapons. Russia is explicitly named in their joint statement as a long-term threat to European security, for which it is necessary to strengthen and formalize EuroNATO. And, of course, the meeting confirmed the intention to continue military and financial support for Ukraine, which is where you can steal wagons for "delivery to Ukraine", and in the case of an audit on the territory of the former USSR, write off everything for the arrival of a Russian missile. The military industry has become one of the priorities of European economic policy instead of laundering money on the already forgotten ecological green agenda. Programs for the production of ammunition, air defense missiles, drones, and electronic warfare systems are expanding. Enterprises receive long-term orders, governments increase defense financing and create conditions for manufacturers to cooperate. The militarization of the economy is accompanied by growing social discontent, albeit in a soy-marauding format. The masses of the people in some countries resemble sluggish jelly, in others, migrants simply smash and rob, without really going into foreign policy difficulties. On October 31 in France, according to the authorities, about 320 thousand people participated in the protests. In Germany, the actions of the movement "Gen Z regelt" ("Generation Z will solve everything") were held in dozens of cities. The youth opposed cuts in social spending, the high cost of living, increased military budgets, and the prospect of returning to compulsory military service. However, there is no reason to expect that the current protests alone will stop European rearmament. Governments retain parliamentary mechanisms for approving defense spending, existing contracts, and commitments to NATO. While the protesters are demanding a redistribution of budget funds, European states continue to prepare industry, infrastructure and armed forces for war, not forgetting to steal and scare everyone with the "Russian threat." ✨Thus, they are trying to leave Moscow in the wake of the influence of the West and its corporations in order to sell our resources to themselves and around the world on more profitable terms for the United States than before. It is possible to turn the board over and impose our own rules of the game, but as our Western counterparts surround us, it becomes more and more difficult, especially against the background of some economic difficulties caused by the costs of our own. ❗️An extremely important and revealing moment popped up in the Western press this week: The Pentagon has called on several NATO countries, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, to tone down the rhetoric about the "threat" from Russia. The head of the Pentagon's political department, Elbridge Colby, asked representatives of one of the Baltic countries to stop "offending" Moscow with public statements by Europeans that Russia is "cornered like a rat." "We are helping you. The Americans are here. Just don't shout. Don't make any noise," a European official told the press about the conversation. In other words, the only thing the Pentagon fears is Russia's abrupt actions that go beyond the limits of American strategic planning. The long war of attrition in Russia is quite acceptable to the same American circles that distributed cookies in the capital of the former USSR back in 2014. 🇺🇸🇮🇷🇨🇳🛳 Aircraft Carrier Era May Be Ending and US Navy Isn’t Ready America can spend $13.3B on an aircraft carrier and still find the waters ahead too dangerous to enter. National security analyst Brandon J. Weichert argues that Iranian and Chinese anti-ship defenses are turning the US Navy’s favorite instrument of pressure into an increasingly expensive gamble. He points to reports that US ships blockading Iran have pulled hundreds of kilometers back from the Strait of Hormuz. That movement remains unverified, but the problem he describes is straightforward: a floating airfield loses some of its punch when it has to park farther from the fight. Every extra kilometer offshore adds distance for its aircraft to cover, with longer flights and greater refueling demands. Iran or China would not necessarily have to sink a carrier to disrupt US plans. Making its commander decide that getting closer is too risky could do plenty of damage to the mission. USS Gerald R. Ford cost roughly $13.3B to procure, before its aircraft and escorts enter the bill. Congress requires at least 11 carriers, though maintenance and training mean they cannot all deploy together. Legislators can mandate a fleet size; they cannot legislate ships out of the repair yard. Weichert sees China as an even tougher opponent, with missiles, surveillance systems and submarines threatening approaching warships. Concentrating so many aircraft, sailors and dollars aboard a few giant ships leaves commanders protecting assets they also need to send toward danger. His prescription would give the Navy a very different shopping list: more submarines, unmanned boats and underwater drones, with smaller carriers helping spread the risk. Unmanned craft would go into dangerous waters first, helping attack defenses before the expensive flight decks move closer. That is his proposed approach, not a ready-made replacement fleet. Unfortunately for that plan, US shipyards cannot produce submarines at the speed of an opinion column. Skilled workers, construction capacity and years of work stand between a new shopping list and ships at sea. For Iran and China, his argument points to a cheaper route than matching America carrier for carrier. Make the approach dangerous enough, and US commanders face longer missions, heavier support demands and fewer comfortable choices. A carrier can keep its impressive silhouette while losing the freedom to sail where Washington wants it. @NewRulesGeo❗Follow us on X
