🔴Federal Reserve: The US manufacturing PMI rose to 57.0 and the services PMI reached 58.7. Stronger activity and rising cost pressures increased expectations for another October rate hike, weighing on high-valuation technology stocks.
🔴 US Stocks: The Nasdaq fell 1.13%, with Alphabet and Amazon leading losses among major technology stocks. McDonald’s dropped 4.81% after unveiling a long-term restaurant investment plan that raised concerns about upfront costs and the return timeline.
🔴 Oil Market: Iran signaled that it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz under certain conditions, while Saudi Arabia restarted its East-West pipeline. However, an unexpected 2.969-million-barrel increase in US crude inventories limited oil-price gains.
🔴 Major Buyers: Strategy purchased 950 BTC between September 14 and 20, while BitMine bought 27,562 ETH during the previous week. Both figures were disclosed in weekly updates and do not represent new intraday purchases on September 24.
🏛 Institutional Views
Lauren Cassidy, chief investment officer of the Founders100 ETF, said unresolved Middle East tensions and persistently high interest rates continued to weigh on equity-market risk appetite. UBS Global Wealth Management remains constructive on AI adoption, monetization and capital spending, but Treasury yields above 5% increase the need for companies to support their valuations with revenue, earnings and cash flow.
