💵 ECB's Pontes Platform Goes Live for Tokenized Asset Settlement The European Central Bank has launched Pontes, a wholesale settlement platform that lets banks clear blockchain-based securities trades in central bank money. It went live on September 21, 2026, with Deutsche Bank and Santander among early participants. Pontes connects DLT market infrastructure directly to the Eurosystem's payment rails — bypassing stablecoins entirely. The ECB also plans to invest a portion of its €23 billion own-funds portfolio in tokenized securities through the platform. Full rollout is expected by 2028, with expanded services and more participants joining gradually. This is separate from the retail digital euro pilot planned for 2027. The ECB is moving deliberately to keep central bank money at the center of digital finance as stablecoin adoption accelerates. Source Trade on Binance
